It does turn up in the online Japanese (to Japanese) dictionary I just consulted, and means mix with, but I think I may have used it wrong, and it may be an unusual form. まぜる is probably better.

こと and もの both mean "thing", but もの is (usually) an object and こと is an event or action. Sometimes the distinction can get pretty hairy, but I think the usage above is basically correct.colinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14244453791724435617noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33853649.post-1157678027563358512006-09-07T20:13:00.000-05:002006-09-07T20:13:00.000-05:00Thanks Colin. The tense bit was a mistake (I tend to make tense mistakes in English as well).

As for あらわす, I just looked up the word "uncover" in my dictionary. I didn't do any sort of reverse lookup. Maybe I need a better dictionary.

Plenty of examples of 「と おもいます」.

まざる? まぜる?

There's also some things I'm kind of fuzzy on. Like 「こと」, which I've never fully grasped, and the 「もの」 in the fourth paragraph.

OR

You used a lot of archaeology words, so I had to look lots of things myself!

You don't need a comma between "hajimarimasita" and "kara". Also, I think mixing past and present tenses in that sentence is a mistake. "Kyou, sigoto de hakkutu ga hajimatta node jitensha wo norimasen desita" would be better.

You shouldn't use "watasi wa" so much, so you could say "totemo tukaremasita".

I'm not sure, but I think a shikutu is something you "suru" (do) rather than "horu" (dig).

"Arawasimasita" sounds a little strange to me, like the flake is intentionally coming out. I think "mitukarimasita" (found) or "hakken simasita" (discovered) might be better.

(In my dictionary "arawasu" is defined as "appear; turn up; show up; come" among other things.)colinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14244453791724435617noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33853649.post-1157504235174240662006-09-05T19:57:00.000-05:002006-09-05T19:57:00.000-05:00I had to use my dictionary for some of the words. ...I had to use my dictionary for some of the words. Hopefully I'll come to remember them.

Ok, here's what I think I wrote:

Every week, my bike club meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Today at work, excavation began, so I didn't ride my bike. (This seems oddly worded. I feel like there should be a けど or something in there.) I was very tired. We dug two test pits (I wanted to say excavation units but that's not in my こうこがつ じてん.) Only one flake was uncovered. Unfortunately.Marshdrifterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17418969826884078761noreply@blogger.com
