Illness:

Yesterday, I had a fever. Today, the fever is gone, but I'm awfully tired.

Recently, I've been reading this book*. It's interesting, although the quizes are difficult.

Today's reading practice** is this blog.

* should this be 「読めます」 or 「読んでいます」?

** This is probably wrong.

And I would say ねつ が でました, although I think ありました would get your meaning across well enough. I'd also say 今日はねつがなくなっています. But I think that's a stylistic issue.

「さいきん、この本をよみます」 sounds like "recently, I read this book", to get the meaning of "am reading" use the ~ています form, 「最近、この本を読んでいます。」 読めます would be "Recently, I can read this book," which is not what you want.

Actually, 今日の読むの練習 is OK, I think, although maybe it should be 今日の読む練習, but I also think is should be 今日の読むの練習はこのブログです.
