This morning, I was still sick, so I went back to bed and slept. I dreamnt in Japanese. I don't remember much*. Someone said, "Peter, how come?" I think. I've listened to too much JapanesePod101.com?**

* I spent some time today working on the transitive/intransitive verbs, but still haven't found a useful set of rules for it. I suspect that おもいだす is transitive, so I'm not sure I'm using it correctly. I'm pretty confused on all that, actually.

** I wanted to make the Japanese version of the question passive, but couldn't exactly figure out how. Not enough time to consult all my many references.

Dreaming in Japanese!? I didn't do that for about six months after I started living in Japan!

ベッド should be katakana.

I think 思い出す is transitive too, if I'm properly remembering what transitive is. The distinction is one that gives me a lot of trouble, actually, because there are many closely related verbs that come in transitive/intransitive pairs: 車を止める/車が止まる ("[I] stop the car."/ "The car stops.") etc. However, using あまり with the positive form of a verb is a grammatical error. You should say あまり思い出しません or, better あまり思い出せません "I can't recall much."

Since だれか is not really a "topic" as such, I feel you should say 誰かが「ピーター、なんでですか?」と言ったと思います。 But I could be wrong. は vs. が is one of the more difficult bits in Japanese. Also note the と between 言った and 思います.

I think it would be difficult to make the last sentence passive... 「JapanesePod101.comが聞かれすぎました。」"JapanesePod101.com was listened to too much?" Doesn't really work.

I make no claim that it was correct or anything other than something that I took for Japanese. I was dreaming, afterall and dreams are not always what they seem.

For that last sentence, I wanted "I've been listening to JPod101.com too much." I couldn't think of how to say that. Eventually, I'll figure it out, I hope.

Ah, that's not the passive, I don't think, that's, er... consults Wikipedia... the present perfect progressive. Yeah.

Japanese tenses don't map so easily, sometimes.

I could never keep all the tenses straight in English. I think I'm going to be screwed with that aspect of 日本語.
